How do I connect my iPod Touch to Wi-Fi if there is a lock on it?

I can't connect my iPod Touch to my home Wi-Fi. It uses DHCP and I entered the DNS correctly. After I put in my password to use my Wi-Fi it says unable to join. I use a Linksys router and I have Windows Vista (if that helps any). Could it be my router or my iPod?
